The Nikkei lost 4% of its value today, down 610 points.
On Wall Street, the Dow had a rough day Monday, tumbling 326 points.
And the Nasdaq was down 107.

Investors are watching to see whether the recent stock market sell-off is the correction some analysts say is overdue. Stocks fell sharply once again on worries about a slowdown in U.S. manufacturing and the strength of the global economy.
A drop of 10 percent is considered a market correction, and analysts point out that the market is already down more than 5 percent from the highs set at the end of last year.

If you stayed at a Marriott Hotel manged by White Lodging last year, you may be the victim of a cyber hacking. White lodging says the breach of credit and debit card information could affect thousands of guests at Marriott Hotels managed by White Lodging since march 23, 2013. The company manages 168 hotels under various brands in 21 states.

And a week of freezing temperatures in early December proved very costly cost California's citrus industry about $441 million. A trade group says  the damage was confined to the state's central valley, where mandarin, navel and lemon crops grow.
