REPUBLIC, Mo. -- The driver of a tractor trailer that crashed into two vehicles, killing two people in March 2013, changed his plea to guilty in a court appearance on Friday.

Lei Sun, 32, of Alhambra, Calif., pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of Lawrence Coan Jr., of Kimberling City, and Corey Gresham, of Macon.

Online court documents say Sun was sentenced to 4 years in prison for each count to run concurrently.

According to a probable cause statement filed on the March 2013 crash, Lei was driving his tractor-trailer west on Highway 60 when he failed to stop at the intersection at Farm Road 93. The semi crashed into the back of a Chevy pickup, driven by Coan.

Coan's pickup was stopped behind a Nissan Altima being driven by Gresham. Both vehicles were smashed into the semi parked in front of them.

Gresham and Coan were pronounced dead at the scene.

A wrongful death lawsuit was later filed by the Gresham family against Lei and Daniel Orchard Transportation, Inc.
