The Nikkei is down 28 points in Tokyo.
On Wall Street, the Dow dropped 22 points Thursday..
The Nasdaq added 13.

Americans seem to be feeling more confident about the economy. Consumer spending rose by .9 percent. That's the largest gain in more than 4 and a half years....

Microsoft has released an update for Internet Explorer after  a flaw was discovered in the browser's security last weekend.  The flaw left users information vulnerable to attacks by hackers. The security update is being issued to users of Windows XP.

There is mixed news from the major U.S. automakers. General Motors says it's U.S. sales rose almost 7 percent in spite of a series of embarrassing recalls. But Ford Motor Company says it's U.S. sales fell by 1 percent.  Ford CEO Alan Mulally announced he will officially retire July 1st. He'll be replaced by Ford COO Mark Fields.

New York's city's famed Tavern on the Green has been given a new lease on life. Closed since  2009 due to bankruptcy -- the landmark Central Park restaurant has quietly re-opened for dinner and will re-open for lunch in mid-may. During it's heyday Ttavern on the Green was the top grossing restaurant in America and played host to the rich and famous including Grace Kelly and John Lennon. It's been featured in many films like Wall Street, Ghostbusters and Mr. Poppers Penguins.
