TODAY: Parades Kick Off Celebrations in Ozarks

MARSHFIELD, Mo. -- The granddaddy of 4th of July parades is a treasured tradition in Webster County, Missouri. It leads off our list of parades in the region, and mark the start of the day's celebrations of the nation's independence.

July 4
Annual Independence Day Parade and Celebration on the Square.  Parade at 10:00 am.  Marshfield is home to the longest running Independence Day parade west of the Mississippi. 

SPRINGFIELD MIDTOWN 4TH OF JULY PARADE: 
July 4

Springfield's 24th Annual Old Fashion 4th of July Parade and Celebration presented by The Midtown Neighborhood Association
The parade will, once again, begin at 10:00 am on July 4 and this year's theme is "Red White and You"

Trophies will be awarded in the following categories: Best Overall; Best Theme Interpretation; Best Children's Float; Best Children's Marching Unit; Best Adult Float; Best Adult Marching Unit.

As always, there will be a celebration in historic Washington Park, featuring The Norman Jackson Band. Free ice cream courtesy of Hiland Dairy, and free beverages courtesy of Pepsi-Cola will be provided to everyone that attends the event.

The entry fees for participation in the parade are: $50.00 for political entries; $10.00 for individuals, businesses and organizations; Veteran's Groups pay no participation fee. The parade route begins at Drury Parking Lot off of Benton Avenue (north of Central High School,) and will travel north on Benton Avenue to Calhoun Street, East on Calhoun Street to Washington Avenue, north on Washington to Locust Street, east on Locust to Washington Park. Participants, please arrive no later than 9:00 am. The parade begins in the Drury parking lot on the west side of Benton just north of Central High School. Floats and trailers should line up on the east side of Benton facing north, all others please pull into parking lot. Participants who wish to park and leave their cars please park in the Central High lot on Jefferson

Come out and join the parade for our new, 2.7 mile extended parade route! Enter in your best act, tractor, car, group, float, horses for a chance to win a Freedom Fest 2014 trophy!

WILLOW SPRINGS, Mo.

July 4 parade in Willow Springs

The 4th of July Patriots Parade is scheduled for Friday, July 4, at 10 a.m. in Willow Springs.
This Patriots Parade has a tradition of being the largest parade in south-central Missouri. Only Marshfield, Mo., has a larger event.
Organizers this year are seeking buglers and drummers for the parade. All are encouraged to be involved in the parade as a participant or spectator.
A special invitation is for young people to participate in this patriotic event. Civic groups, business and professional groups are invited. There is no entry fee, the entire event is free, and everybody is invited to join the event.
Line up time begins at 9 a.m. at the Booster Field parking lot. There will be parking attendants to get the event in order.
Special attention will be given to any veterans group that would like to participate, call Wendell Bailey at 469-2588 for details of the parade.
Saddle club members and other equestrians are encouraged to ride their beautiful horses in the parade.
