SPRINGFIELD, Mo.--Starting Monday, June 2 the front entrance to the Library Center will be closed for construction.

The Library Center at 4653 S. Campbell will be under construction from June 2 to June 30. The front entrance to the library will be closed so visitors will be directed to enter the building from the south side, through the Mudhouse café door.

Signage will help direct visitors to the alternate entrance.

The front doors will remain closed through June so that workers can dismantle the original, 14-year-old canopy and install a new one.

For safety reasons during the construction project, all visitors will be directed into the Library Center through a detour.

Families attending Summer Reading Program performances in the auditorium will be able to enter the south auditorium door from the patio.

To accommodate Library visitors, the Mudhouse will extend its hours, opening doors from 8 am -9 pm During June, some of the café’s tables and chairs will be set up in the Library Center concourse, so patrons can dine “al fresco.”

The Library Center’s drive-through window service, the Mudhouse and Between Friends Gift Shop will remain open throughout the June construction project.
