SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A center piece of a mini golf course in south Springfield is back where it belongs today.

A man driving a truck carrying a large model of a dinosaur near West Bypass and Chestnut Expressway was stopped after a report came in to Springfield police about 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The man told an officer who pulled him over in a traffic stop that he had purchased the model, but it was determined to be stolen from a miniature golf course at 214 W. Glenwood, according to Springfield police spokeswoman Lisa Cox.  The theft happened some time overnight Tuesday.

The driver returned the dinosaur to Fun Acres, she said, and no arrests had been made this morning.  Hear from the owner of the park tonight, on KOLR10 News.
