JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The statewide tornado drill scheduled as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week will take place today at 1:30 pm.
The drill is a part of Severe Weather Awareness Week.

The drill was to take place Tuesday, but because of subfreezing temperatures, storm sirens in many parts of Missouri could not be sounded.

Today, schools, businesses and Missouri residents are urged to take part in the drill by practicing their own tornado response plan.  The spring storm season runs from March through June, although tornadoes can break out any time of the year when conditions are right.
