Springfield Scores Late To Beat Travs

Springfield beat Arkansas in the bottom of the 9th 2-1.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Cardinals returned to their Hammons Field home for a quick four game series with Arkansas before heading back out on the road.

The Cardinals got well on the road, winning four of the six games in Texas.

In town Thursday night, Arkansas, the Double AA affiliate of the L.A. Angels.

And the Travs would strike in the top of the first, Kaleb Cowart singles to center, Kyle Hudson scores it's 1-nothing Arkansas.

The Travs were threatening for more, but Michael Snyder grounds this to third, Patrick Wisdom starts the 5-4-3 double play the long way, it's still 1-nothing.

Arkansas threatening again in the second, but Seth Blair gets more defensive help, Alex Yarbrough grounds sharply to Jonathan Rodriguez at first, he starts the 3-6-3 twin killing, still 1-nothing.

The Travs flashing the leather, bottom of the second, Drew Heid with the diving catch to rob Luis Mateo.

Springfield threatening in the third, but Drew Rucinski strikes out Rodriguez looking to end the threat, it's 1-nothing Travs in the seventh.   

But the Cards evened it up and then won on a Mateo r-b-i single in the bottom of the ninth and win 2-1.
