Springfield Cardinals Lose to Hooks

SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Cardinals lose series opener to the Hooks.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Cardinals opened up their second home series of the year against the Corpus Christi Hooks Sunday. The Cards looking to bounce back after their 6-3 loss on Saturday. 

We pick it  up in the top of the second M.P Cokinos hits one right back to the pitchers mound where it came from. Preston Tucker rounds third for a play at the plate. Tucker slides in safely. And it's 1-0 Hooks.

Top of the third. Cokinos again coming up with some ribbies. One comes in but Cody Stanley tags tucker out at the plate. Hooks up though 4-0.

Bottom of the 8th Aledmys Diaz ropes one down the line for a 2-run double. There's Greg Miclat coming home for the Cards and that cuts the Hooks lead to 5-2.

Same inning, James Ramsey hits one on the ground to left. Another run comes in for the Cardinals and that would make it 5-3.

But Springfield couldn't catch up to the Hooks.

Cardinals fall 5-3.
