SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- While the Springfield Cardinals had a game early in the day Monday, they came out for another special game in the evening.

They visited the Miracle League field for a baseball game for kids with disabilities.

15 players were at Dan Kinney Park to sign autographs and serve as guest buddies with the players.

There are more than 135 children and adults who have signed up for the spring season.

Registration has doubled since the ball-park's 2012 inaugural season.

One volunteer shares why she loves helping out these kids.

"Seeing these kids to come out and play a sport that I love and their smiles and their enthusiasm,” says Katie Skahan. “Just getting to work as a team. It's just as special for us to come out and see them play ball as it is for them to come out."

The Miracle League is still accepting applications for volunteer buddies to help the players enjoy playing baseball.
