Route Announced For Downtown Springfield Christmas Parade

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – On Thursday, Dec. 12, the Urban Districts Alliance announced the parade route for the 2013 Downtown Springfield Christmas Parade presented by Systematic Savings Bank.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – On Thursday, Dec. 12, the Urban Districts Alliance announced the parade route for the 2013 Downtown Springfield Christmas Parade presented by Systematic Savings Bank.

This year, the parade will begin at South Ave. and Elm St. and will continue north to South Ave. and on to Park Central Square.  The parade will proceed through the square clockwise and exit on Park Central East.  Finally the parade will take a left at Kimbrough Ave. and a right on Trafficway St. to end at Jordan Valley Park.

The parade is set to take place Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. in Downtown Springfield with a theme of “Joy to the World.”

Featuring more than 60 floats, 10 marching bands, and Santa, the parade will be led by Dr. Robert Spence, president of Evangel University, in recognition of his 40 years of service to the community.
