Restaurants Readying For Friday Night Valentine's Rush

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Valentine's Day is already one of the busiest holidays for restaurants, but this year's big date night could be the biggest.

"I wish every night was Valentine's Day," Touch restaurant owner Mike Jalili said. "If I had this restaurant ten times bigger I could fill it up, it is huge, it is by far the biggest night of the year."

VisitMo recently put out a list of Springfield's Valentine date night hot spots. Many of the restaurants on the list, like Touch, will celebrate in a special way.

"We're doing a Candyland this year, which is a buffet of all the homemade pastries we make," Jalili said.

At Kai, drink specials along with special additions to the menu are planned..

"New delicious entrees that they can only get at that time and it's the best time to try some new stuff," manager Dustin Smith said.

This year is different, since it falls on an already popular date night.

"Friday nights are big anyway, but with the Valentine's Day, not everybody goes out on the actual Valentine's Day. They try to, but they can't get in, so they book on the night after or night before," Jalili said.

And even if it's not a "date," Valentine's Day specials can be loved by all.

"Even those that aren't couples will come in and still enjoy the night," Smith said.

"It's a night of love, let's share the love," Jalili said.
