Rescues on the Mississippi After Tow Boat Sinks

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Four people were rescued after a towboat sank in the Mississippi River Tuesday.
ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Four people were rescued after a towboat sank in the Mississippi River Tuesday.

According to officials, the four people were onboard a towboat when it began sinking near the Stan Musial Veteran Memorial Bridge in north St. Louis.

Another tow boat heard a distress call and immediately responded to the scene. All of the crew got off the sinking boat before it went under.

No injuries were reported.

Officials continued to search for the boat into early Tuesday afternoon. Authorities were interviewing crew members to determine how it sank.

Boat traffic was closed on the Mississippi was closed for several hours.
