Republic Comes From Behind To Win State

Republic rallies in the fourth quarter to beat Lafayette 45-42 for its second straight state championship.
COLUMBIA, Mo--Thanks Dan it's the final day of state high school basketball.

And I think that I just about recovered from last night's triple overtime thriller between Republic and Helias.

Which allowed the Tigers to go for their second straight state title today.

The 26-4 Republic Tigers taking on 25-4 Lafayette for the Class 4 state title.

The Tigers going inside to Cody Geiger, yet again, he gets the basket and the foul, Republic up 4-0.

Then Brock Yocum goes baseline on the reverse, it's 6-5 Tigers.

But the Fighting Irish Xavier Curth would catch fire, the pull up jumper makes it 11-6 Lafayette.

And another two of his 12 first half points here, Lafayette led 19-10 at the half.

In the second half, the Tigers Canyon Smith finds Mr. Clutch himself Cody Geiger with the and one, makes it 33-26 Irish with the lead.

But the Tigers having trouble catching up to the Irish, Chester Godeau makes it 38-31 on the basket.

But it's Republic, you can't count them out.

Tie game less than 20 seconds to play, Smith with the game winning three, Republic repeats as state champs  winning another crazy one 45-42.
