Red Cross Continues to Offer Assistance to Flood Victims

SOUTHWEST Mo. -- In response to flooding throughout the area, the Red Cross has released a list of needs they plan to fill for flood victims.
SOUTHWEST, Mo. -- In response to unprecedented flooding across the area, the Red Cross is offering support and aid to those affected by the floods.

The following is a list of needs the Red Cross is offering to fill:
Sheltering and Comfort

 St Robert Community Center 114 J. H. Williamson JR DRIVE, Saint Robert
 New Beginnings Fellowship 151 Elm Street Hollister, MO.

To date there have been 84 over-night stays between the two locations.

Over 50 wellness health and mental health contacts have been made, as well, providing people with assistance in not only the health of the body but also of the mind during this devastating time, according to a press release sent by the Red Cross.


 In addition to the fixed feeding site at the shelter –mobile feeding continues. The Red Cross is working with emergency management on the ground as well as utilizing mass care volunteers to identify needs.

To date over 2,100 meals and snacks have been served across the affected counties.

Bulk Distribution

 Nearly 70 Flood Clean-Up kits, gloves, shovels, bug spray etc. will be distributed to affected neighborhoods to begin the process of recovery. These items are also available at the shelter location in Hollister for pick up and distribution to those affected.

Over 250 comfort kits have been distributed to provide hygiene items.

Damage Assessment and Casework

 A damage assessment team has completed a report with an estimated 115 families (cases) that are beginning the casework process today.

The Red Cross will continue to work with partners from the State VOAD and Governor’s Partnership as well as local organizations in a Multi-Agency Resource Center for those affected in Pulaski county and the surrounding areas.

The Resource Center is set to open, Tuesday, Aug 13, at 10 a.m.
Times for operation will be Tuesday-Friday (Aug 13-16) at 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily located at Westside Baptist Church 801 Historic Hwy. 66 West in Waynesville, MO

The Red Cross plans to continue working with the Salvation Army, Southern Baptists, 2-1-1 and other state agencies.
