Rain Delays W.S. Game Six

Rain postponed Game 6 of the World Series.
(St. Louis, MO)--Mother Nature put the breaks on the 107th World Series, at least for Wednesday.

Texas leads the best of seven 3 games to 2.

The rain falling hard in St. Louis postponing Wednesdays Game 6 of the World Series until Thursday.

The rain started to fall in St. Louis hours before game time...but Major League Baseball had already decided to postpone Game 6 of the World Series.

"Because of the forecast there was no reason to wait any longer and the earlier we can do it the more people can change plans and do what they need to do and including the players and managers too," said  MLB V.P. of Baseball Operations Joe Torre.

For the Texas Rangers, who leads the series 3-games-to-2, a postponed game doesn't postpone the desire to win the first World Series in franchise history.

"We're going to get a chance to play," said Rangers third baseman Michael Young. "We'll be ready when the first pitch is thrown we'll be ready to go."

For the Cardinals, looking for their 11th championship, a World Series comeback will have to wait another day.

"We just need to come out and ready to play tomorrow," said Cards first baseman Albert Pujols. "To force this game to Game 7 and in Game 7 anything can happen."

Cards skipper Tony La Russa and Texas manager Ron Washington downplayed how much good an extra day off would do for their teams.

But for two bullpens that have put in significant work this October...it helps to rest a little longer.

"A lot of guys out there have pitched an extreme amount so anytime you can get a day to kind of recharge your battery, that's good." said Cardinals reliever Mitchell Boggs. "If we were to play tonight, everybody would be ready to."

The forecast for Thursday night in St. Louis does not include much rain, meanwhile both managers going with their original starters, Jaime Garcia for the Cardinals, and Colby Lewis for the Rangers.

When asked if Chris Carpenter would be available for Game 6, Tony La Russa said "absolutely not"...then he paused and said..."Well, maybe."
