SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Springfield Police Department is asking for help finding a man accused of shooting another man with a shotgun on May 18.

Chance W. Parker, 25, is wanted on a Greene County warrant for first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.

According to Springfield Police Spokeswoman Lisa Cox, Parker is wanted in connection with the shooting of 27-year-old Brian Letterman.

Police say Letterman was rushed to the hospital May 18, after an altercation in the 1400 block of Lombard St.

According to police, a man in a red Dodge pickup and Letterman, who was on a scooter, were arguing. The man in the truck pulled out a shotgun and fired at Letterman.

"The truck was in the alley and the subject that was shot was on a scooter and there was a verbal argument, the victim threw the scooter down and there was an argument between the two," Lt. Todd Revell with the Springfield Police Department says. "They were never close enough to have a physical altercation but then the shots were fired from the alley and struck him on the street."

The man in the truck fled the scene and there were no license plates on the vehicle.

According to Cox, police believe Parker may have been the shooter.

Parker is describes as five feet and six inches, 150 pounds, and bald with brown eyes.

Anyone with information regarding Parker’s whereabouts are asked to call the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS.
