Morning Sports Report - March 31, 2014

College baseball over the weekend - with Missouri State and Drury both racking up victories. Megan Rice has more in your Monday morning sports report.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Bears closing out their three game series against Southern Illinois Sunday at Hammons Field, looking to bounce back after Saturday's extra inning loss to the Salukis.

The Bears were 2-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference heading into the game.

Jon Harris on the mound for the Bears.

Top of the first, and Harris gets Cody Daily to strike out and end the inning. 0-0 ball game.

To the bottom of the first, Aaron Hauge pitching for the Salukis. And Tate Matheny blasts a two run homer. Matt Dezort scores as Matheny gives Missouri State a 2-0 lead.

But the top of the second, things got a little sloppy for the Bears. Ryan Rosthenhausler hits one off the glove of Dylan Becker. Ryan Casillas scores on the play from second. That makes it 2-1 Bears.

Then, a wild pitch by Harris sends Matt Jones home and just like that its tied at two.

But, the damage wasn't done. This time its a passed ball by catcher Matt Fultz and Rosthenhausler scores to give the Salukis a 3-2 lead.

And in the top of the third, Casillas would extend their lead as he hits a sacrifice fly to bring Parker Osborne home for a 4-2 lead.

But for the second day in a row. The teams would need extra innings.

Bears win in the 10th as Eric Cheray scores on a wild pitch to end the game. MSU takes it 6-5. And win two of three in the series.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Drury Panthers finishing up their four game series against GLVC rivals Quincy today as well.

The Panthers won both games of the double header Saturday.

Drury picking up were they left things Saturday. Bottom of the first, Caleb Cole singles. Emilio Villanueva scores. Drury up 1-0.

Still in the first, Taylor Bax ropes one to right. Nick Thimesch scores and it's 3-0 Panthers.

But they didn't stop there. Cole Faulconer's turn to do some damage. RBI single brings home Bax. That makes it 5-0.

The huge inning would continue for DU. Colton Jones goes down the third base line. Faulconer and Tyler Arthur score on the Jones triple. That capped off an eight-run first inning.

Drury goes on to win the first game by a score of 10-6.

And in the second game. The Panthers cruise to a 12-4 win and17 hits in the victory. Drury wins all four games of the series.
