Morning Sports Report - April 8, 2014

Mizzou suspends one of its best football players and Springfield Cards fall again. Here's your Tuesday morning sports report.
COLUMBIA, Mo--And some big news Monday in Columbia Gary Pinkel announced the Tigers have suspended star wide receiver and Springfield native Dorial Green-Beckham indefinitely.

DGB has been suspended from the program for violating team policies. This means Beckham will not participate in practices or team activities until his suspension is lifted.

The former Hillcrest wide receiver was arrested and later released in Springfield this last January when he was pulled over in car that had nearly a pound of marijuana found in it.

I spoke with the Springfield Police Department and they say that case is still pending.

Now here is a quote from coach Gary Pinkel in a statement released by Mizzou's Athletic Department.

Pinkel says, "It's unfortunate, but it's the right thing to do for our football program, for the athletic department, and also for Dorial. We have high standards related to the expectations that come along with being a Missouri Tiger, and Dorial has not met those recently."
