Morning Sports Report - May 29, 2014

High school baseball sectionals and quarterfinals continue in the Ozarks, and both of Missouri's Major League teams record loses. Dan Lucy has your Thursday morning sports report.
WILLARD, Mo--High school baseball teams in Southwest Missouri have been battling mother nature for the past few days as they try to complete the sectional rounds of the state playoffs.

The 24-4 Nixa Eagles and 22-10 Willard Tigers are battling in Class 5.

And this would turn out to be a pitchers duel at Tom Greenwade Field.

Nixa flashing the leather early, Willard's Dalton Morrow lines this to right center, but Nixa's Scott Minehardt is there for the diving catch.

The Eagles Jacob Ruder on the hill for Nixa, and he strikes out Nick Hooper swinging.

Willard's Morrow just as hot as Ruder, here the southpaw strikes out Dustin Sipes swinging.

Nixa trying to get something going in the fourth but Willard hits into this 6-4-3 double play to end the inning.

The Eagles would finally score in the sixth, Minehardt gets hit by the pitch.

And then Jacob Ruder would bring him home with this rbi single to center, it's 1-nothing.

Ruder would go a complete game no hitter and Nixa wins 2-nothing to advance to play Rock Bridge Thursday.

MARSHFIELD, Mo--In Class 4, 24 game winner Rogersville taking on Eldon.

This game being played in Marshfield.

And it was 6-1 Rogersville in the third when the Wildcats would flash the leather, Tyler Chritton with the barehanded play for the out to end the third.

Rogersville would pick up more runs in the fourth, Jacob Schlesener singles to right, Bailey Jenkins scores it's 7-one.

Then Tad Mitchell follows with a single to left, Schlesener scores it's 8-one.

And Rogersville goes onto win 11-1 and will play at Monett Thursday night.

In other Missouri High School baseball quarterfinals,
Catholic shuts out Forsyth, 11-0.  Harville downs Crane 13-7.
Dadeville beats Lakeland, 5-2.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Cardinals continued their series with Midland Wednesday night.

Springfield sending first round draft pick Marco Gonzales to the hill against the RockHounds.

Gonzales picked up his first Double AA win at Midland last week.

The southpaw struck out seven in Texas.

And he was throwing b-b's early, Gonzales getting Max Muncy looking at strike three.

But Midland would get to Gonzales, a man on and Dusty Coleman takes this deep to left, over the Cox Health sign and gone, a two run shot it's 2-nothing.

The RockHound Shawn Haviland was outpitching Gonzales, he gets Jacob Wilson swinging in the bottom of the second.

Then in the third, the RockHounds get more, two on and Josh Whitaker shoots the gap in rightcenter Hiro Nakajima and Anthony Aliotti score it's 4-nothing.

And Midland goes onto beat the Cardinals 9-4.

And Houston tops Kansas City, 9-2.
