SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Evangel Crusaders tipped off the Heart of America post season tournament at home against Central Methodist.
The Crusaders are ranked 24th in the latest NAIA poll and finished third in the conference.
Central Methodist finished fifth.
Evangel's Zack Kleine shared the HAAC player of the year award with the Eagles Melvin Tillman.
And Central Methodist with a quick start, the no look pass to Mitchell Farr with the far shot, a three, 3-nothing Eagles.
Then it's the other player of the year Tillman with the triple, it's 9-nothing Central Methodist.
Evangel trying to keep pace, Billy Thompson in the corner with the ball, thinks about it, thinks about it, and pulls the trigger, Crusaders down six.
Then the Crusaders off the inbounds to Brodie Wingert with the three pointer it's 26-12 Central Methodist.
The Crusaders moving the ball into the paint, Korry Tillery with the easy two from the block, Evangel still down 28-14.
Central Methodist red hot from the perimeter, Kaylim Noel with the three, it's 31-16.
Kleine hits this three from the corner, but his Crusaders down by a dozen.
And Evangel wins 125-114 in double overtime.
ROGERSVILLE, Mo--The road to Columbia and a Missouri state high school basketball championship continued Thursday night for the smaller schools.
It's sectional play for Class 2 and 3.
And in Rogersville it was Class 3 with Ash Grove taking on Strafford.
Both the boys and girls teams playing each other.
Let's go ladies first.
And this was a dandy, Ash Grove's Halee Cashio with the three, and it's a 47-36 Pirate lead.
But Strafford storms back, 46 seconds left and Amanda Rowden spins to the hole, gets the hoop and the foul, the three point play gives Strafford a 55-54 lead.
With 15 seconds left, the senior Rowden swishes this free throw, tying the game up at 56.
Ash grove with a chance to win, the Pirates beat the press to Abby Arico with the hoop and the foul.
And Ash Grove wins 59-56.
ROGERSVILLE, Mo--On the boys side, Class 3 sectionals, Strafford taking on Ash Grove.
And Ash Grove attacking the lane from the opening tip, Cody Allhands takes it to the glass to put the Pirates on top 2-nothing.
Strafford beating the zone defense by getting the ball inside to Kyle Foley for the basket and it's a two point game.
Later Ash Grove getting pressed by Strafford, and the Pirates get the ball down to Benjamin Weinreis for the catch and shoot three, it's 9-2 Pirates.
Strafford hitting from the outside as well, this is Jacob Wade with the three from the corner, and the Indians beat Ash Grove 66-56.
It was Senior Night in Columbia and Fayetteville.
Mizzou squeaked by Texas A&M 57-56.
The Tigers' Earnest Ross hit two free throws with seven seconds to win the game.
Meanwhile, Arkansas hosted 'Ole Miss and the Razorbacks bombed the Rebels 110-80.
Anthlon Bell had a career high 23 points for the Hogs.
