'One Missing Link' Helps Families Cope With Losing Loved Ones

(Springfield, MO) -- So how has Janis McCall managed, for 20 years, to cope with a missing daughter?

(Springfield, MO) -- So how has Janis McCall managed, for 20 years, to cope with a missing daughter?

For the last 18, she's helped others find their missing loved ones.

Janis and Stuart McCall founded One Missing Link in January 1994.

When Stacy disappeared, they were discouraged that there were no organizations out there to help find missing adults.

Since then, they've taken thousands of calls, and helped find hundreds of missing people of all ages -- many of them runaways.

One Missing Link helped the families of missing couple Rusty and Rebecca Porter cope with their disappearance.

Janis says since she's been in that position herself, she knows how to help families cope with the shock of dealing with the unknown.

"When you look at your parents' picture on that poster, it's going to be a rough time. You have no idea, when you lift up a missing poster, how scary that is to a family. When they see that poster that says 'missing'. Those big letters that say missing. It's terrifying."

The Porters' bodies were found last July in rural TaneyCounty. No one has been charged in the murders.

One Missing Link operates strictly on a volunteer basis, and depends on donations to keep its efforts going.
