REPUBLIC, Mo. – A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday for a new state-of-the-art $4.8 million manufacturing facility by Weston Metal Masters.

The investment by the stainless steel tank and vessel manufacturer is expected to create 77 new jobs and accommodate 47 existing employees, who are being relocated to Republic.

Construction for the 63,000 square-foot building has already begun in Republic, along with an additional 4,450 square-foot complex for corporate offices. The new facility nearly triples the company’s current capacity and will accommodate increased production by doubling the number of tanks and vessels the company can manufacture each month.

“We have outgrown our current location, and we’re at 130 percent capacity with over six months in backlog,” says Bill Schahuber, president and owner of Watson Metal Masters. “Our new facility will allow us to meet our demand and better serve our rapidly growing client base.”

Founded in 1988, Watson Metal Masters designs and fabricates custom stainless steel tanks and vessels for a variety of industries, including food and beverage, health and beauty, and pharmaceuticals. According to a news statement, the company manufactures tanks of up to 500,000 gallons for domestic and international markets, exporting its products to companies in Spain, Brazil, and Algeria.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, Gov. Jay Nixon says the new facility can help Missouri compete on a national level.

“Here in Missouri, we make products the world wants to buy,” Gov. Nixon says. “That’s why we’ve worked to foster a business-friendly climate where manufacturers of all sizes can invest and grow. When homegrown manufacturers like Watson Metal Masters continue to prosper in the Show-Me state, it’s clear that our low energy costs, highly-skilled workforce, and strong infrastructure help us compete and win on a national level.”
