Murder Suspect Found Hanging in Jail Cell

WEST PLAINS, Mo. -- A man from West Plains, Missouri, who was charged with murder, has died after being found hanging in his jail cell.
WEST PLAINS, Mo. --  A man from West Plains, Missouri, who was charged with murder, has died after being found hanging in his jail cell.

Daniel Norton, 33,  was found hanging inside his cell in the Howell County Jail Friday night. After Sheriff’s Department crews worked to save his life, Norton was rushed to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains and later taken to Cox South in Springfield, where he died Sunday.

Norton was charged with second degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action in the February 12 death of Michael Tyler of West Plains, who was allegedly stabbed in the neck by Norton. Tyler was taken to Ozarks Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead after arrival.
