MSU's Pickens Out With Stress Fracture

Missouri State senior Keith Pickens will miss the next couple of weeks with a stress fracture in his right knee.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo--Missouri State will have to play the next few weeks without the team's veteran leader.

In our Bear nation report, MRI results Friday reveal that Keith Pickens has a stress fracture in his right shin and will not be able to play.

Pickens has struggled with injuries for the last couple of years at Missouri State.

He did not play in the Loyola or Bradley games earlier this week.

The senior has only played in nine games averaging a nearly six points and six rebounds a contest.

He could be back by February.

"He's the heart and soul of our team," said MSU coach Paul Lusk.  "I challenged our guys the other night.  We don't have Pick, and really didn't play him against Loyola.  He's been battling this.  If we said Pick could play tomorrow, he'd go out there and play.  He wouldn't care what anyone said.  But you can't do that.  You're disappointed for him because he cares.  But he can still provide leadership.."
