SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Missouri State University athletics has a new home for local television on KOLR10 and KOZL for the next five years.

An agreement between the university and Nexstar, the parent company of KOZL, includes high-definition broadcasts of 17 MSU basketball games annually (nine Bears and eight Lady Bears games) 42 weekly highlight shows for football and season preview shows for all three sports.

The agreement takes effect for the 2014-15 academic year and goes through the 2018-19 academic year.

The games will not only be shown in the Springfield market, but will also be carried in Joplin and TV outlets in St. Louis, Kansas City and central Missouri.

"We are excited about our new relationship with Missouri State University and its Athletics program," says Leo Henning, Vice President and General Manager for KOLR10, KOZL, OzarksFirst and Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc. "We are looking forward to providing Bears fans, including the Springfield and Joplin television markets and surrounding areas, with high-definition men’s and women’s basketball games and special programs."

Missouri State Sports Properties representative Frank Cuervo says the new partnership will help tell the MSU story to its wide range of fans and followers.

"The exposure for Bears and Lady Bears basketball, as well as the institution as a whole, will allow Missouri State a platform from which to tell its story to a statewide audience," says Cuervo.

"We're really excited about it," adds MSU Athletic Director Kyle Moats.  "The HD part of it, and the excitement KOLR10 and KOZL brings to the partnership, the digitial component and online component, and the promotional punch we will get working with one another will be good for both sides-- and we are just really excited to be partners."
