SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-- A motor vehicle accident prompts Springfield Police to enact “Emergency Status.”

Due to a serious vehicle accident at Kansas Expressway and Norton Road, the Springfield Police Department has placed accident response in “Emergency Status.”

All Northbound lanes on Kansas Expressway at Norton Road are closed at this time due to the accident. MoDOT and Springfield Police Officers are on the scene to control traffic.

When emergency status is in effect Springfield Police ask citizens to report motor vehicle accidents making a walk-in accident report if the following conditions exist: All vehicles involved are operable, the accident is non-injury, and that no alcohol or drug-impaired driver is involved.

Springfield Police are asking drivers to be aware of emergency personnel working in the area of Kansas Expressway and Norton Road and are asking drivers to slow down, use caution, and be aware of detours at the intersection.
