CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. -- A final portion of the old Hurricane Deck Bridge over Lake of the Ozarks will be demolished Thursday.

MoDOT says the demolition is set for 9 am January 30.  It is the third a final stretch of the bridge to be blasted down.  The first and second blasts took place on Dec. 7, 2013 and Dec. 21, 2013.

The final 700 foot section of the bridge, built in 1936.

To accommodate the demolition, MoDOT will close all traffic on Highway 5 over the new Hurricane Deck Bridge 15 minutes beforehand.  Water traffic below will be stopped within a 1,500 foot radius of the bridge for one hour.

After the explosion, crews will spend the next few weeks pulling metal from the water, which will be salvaged as scrap.
