AURORA - The owner of a trash service whose offices in Aurora caught fire Monday evening said he believes the property is a total loss, but will wait for an insurance official’s verdict.

The fire at Doty Trash Service on Madison Avenue began about 6:15 p.m. Monday, according to business owner Jim Doty. Fire fighters from the Aurora City and Rural fire departments responded “immediately,” he said, but the 1,000-square-foof building was destroyed. No other structures were damaged, he said.

Cause of the fire is undetermined, Doty said. Officials with the Aurora fire departments could not be reached Tuesday morning.

The company is continuing operations from its shop building on Missouri 39, Doty said.
