Matheny Wins Bears MVP

Missouri State outfielder Tate Matheny was named the Bears MVP.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Missouri State baseball Bears handed out their post season awards Thursday.

And in our Bear Nation report, sophomore outfielder Tate Matheny won the most valuable player award for the second straight year.

Tate Matheny is the son of St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny.

This year he led the Valley with his .330 batting average and blasted ten home runs.

He becomes only the sixth Bear to win back to back MVP honors.

And the pitcher of the year is senior Cody Schumacher.

Schumacher was 6-2 with 2.45 earned run average.

Aaron Meyer was the rookie of the year.
