Marshfield Falls In Girls State Semi's

Marshfield loses to Incarnate Word 59-33 in the girls Class 4 state semifinals.
COLUMBIA, Mo--We are in the final weekend of the 2013-14 high school basketball season. With two Ozark area teams still with the chance at a potential state title.

We start things off with the Class 4 girls semifinals, Marshfield going up against 28-1 Incarnate Word.

And the Red Knights out to a fast start, the kickout to Katie Lacefield for three 10-nothing Incarnate Word.

Later Marshfield's Lauren Aldridge with the jumper, the Lady Jays on the board 10-2 Knights.

Then a sharp pass inside to Nafesha Collier for two, 14-2 Word up.

The Red Knights going inside to Gwynn Adams where they continue to dominate in the post, that makes it 16-2.

But the Lady Jays get some offense from Lilia Theobald, not one hoop, that makes it 16-5.

But two back to back layups to make it 19-7 with Incarnate Word lead.

Everything going the Red Knight's way, they get the buzzer beater to end the half.

Incarnate Word with a commanding 32-9 lead at the half.

The Red Knight's Collier had 24 points and didn't miss a shot going 12 for 12 from the field as Marshfield falls 59-33.

The Lady Jays play St. Joe Benton for third place tomorrow.

"It's like a dream come true for each of us.  We started playing on a team together when we were in first grade at the YMCA," said Marshfield senior Lauren Aldridge.  "It's just kind of cool to see it all come together in our senior year.  Two teams come out with a win, so we're hoping to come out with a win tomorrow."
