The Nikkei is up 89 points today in Tokyo.
On Wall Street Thursday, the Dow was up 92 points, closing at 17,068 - the first time it's crossed the 17,000 mark.
And the Nasdaq gained 28.


The U.S. Services industry is bouncing back.   It expanded for the second month in a row after a dip from harsh winter weather.   The services industry makes up 90 percent of the U.S. workforce, including retail, construction, health care and financial services companies.

Mortgage rates are nearing historically low levels. Mortgage company Freddie Mac says the nationwide average rate for a 30-year loan dropped to 4.12-percent down from 4.14  last week.

And two of the nation's largest drugstore chains reported increased pharmacy sales in June. Walgreen climbed more than 11 percent and rite aid saw a 5 percent jump as more customers filled prescriptions. CVS- the other top drugstore - does not report monthly results.
