The Nikkei is down 47 points today in trading in Toyko.
The Dow was up 60 points Thursday.
The Nasdaq added 5.

Sears Holdings Corporation which operates Sears and KMart, says revenue declined 10 percent in the second quarter.  The retail company says it plans to do more cost cutting. That includes closing more stores, beyond the 130 it had announced earlier this year.

Fewer people are flipping homes across the country. RealtyTrac says that in the second quarter, the number of people buying and selling homes within the same year, decreased from the first quarter.
Homes that have been flipped, now account for less than 5 percent of all sales. That's down from 6 percent a year ago.

Women are making strides in construction trades. But when it comes to harassment and discrimination there's work to be done. The Institute for Womens Policy Research says nearly a third of women reported high levels of harassment. One in ten made a formal charge to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission because of discrimination. Over 200 women took the survey.
