The Nikkei is up 154 points today in Tokyo.
On Wall Street, the Dow gained 75 points Tuesday.
The Nasdaq added 69.


Lawmakers want answers from U.S. auto giant General Motors after 13 people died because of a defective ignition switch. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says GM knew about the defect and failed to re-call millions of vehicles. GM's new CEO says she can't explain why it took so long for the defect to be announced.


Across the industry U.S. auto sales picked up in March, with Ford reporting a strong showing by their top selling F-series trucks.
Chrysler's sales jumped 13 percent with the new Jeep Cherokee and Ram pick-up in high demand...Sales at Toyota grew by 5-percent.

If you miss the sliced cake they used to serve at Starbucks, you are not alone. The Seattle-based coffee giant says they're bringing back the flavored cake slices. The company had been phasing out the banana, iced-lemon and pumpkin cakes in favor of new pricier baked goods. In 2012,  Starbucks bought the french-themed bakery La Loulange hoping to sell better pastries with their coffee. But customers complained saying they want their cake - and they want to eat it too.
