The Nikkei is up 214 points today in trading in Japan.
On Wall Street, the Dow rose 104 points Monday.
And the Nasdaq gained 30.

Samsung unveiled its newest weapon in the smartphone wars. The Korean electronics giant introduced the Galaxy S-5, featuring a heart rate monitor and a fingerprint sensor. The Galaxy line has already helped Samsung overtake Apple as the largest smartphone maker in the world.

Wall Street will be watching for news this morning on the housing market and also on consumer confidence. When consumers are feeling optimistic they spend more freely, which helps power the economy.

Investors are waiting to see if Men's Wearhouse will finally button up a deal with Joseph A. Bank. The company is boosting its takeover offer by 10 percent to about $1.8 billion. In return, Joseph A. Bank would have to back off its plan to buy the parent company of Eddie Bauer.

And the breakfast wars are heating up. Taco Bell is launching its biggest menu expansion since it opened more than 50 years ago. That includes the launch of the Taco Bell Breakfast…featuring portable versions of morning classics like eggs, bacon and hashbrowns - even a waffle taco.
