The Nikkei is up about half a point today in Tokyo trading.
On Wall Street, the Dow climbed 181 points Wednesday.
The Nasdaq rose 71.


The Federal Reserve released minutes from a committee meeting and an unannounced video conference from last month.
Those minutes show that the central bank struggled over how to tell investors how fast it will raise short-term interest rates---which could elevate borrowing costs and hurt stock prices

Hewlett-Packard will pay the U.S government $108 million as part of a settlement.  Prosecutors allege former employees paid bribes to officials in Russia, Mexico and Poland. Officials say dozens of people had been charged as part of an industry-wide investigation of corruption dating from 2007 to 2009.

Panera plans to shorten wait times and improve order accuracy for its customers.
The company is planning to overhaul the system over the next several years in a project called Panera 2.0.
It's a push that includes letting customers order --with their mobile devices to have  food ready at a certain time, or delivered to their tables.

And a positive attitude is just as important for success, as the specific skills you need to do your job.
A new survey by Career Builder found 77 percent of employers believe soft skills, like those associated with one's personality, are just as important as hard skills or skills that are learned on the job.
