The Nikkei is up 139 points today in trading in Japan.
On Wall Street, the Dow was up 62 points Thursday.
The Nasdaq fell 6.

Later this morning the government releases its monthly employment report.
Analysts predict the economy added about 145,000 jobs in February.
The last two reports showed hiring has slowed
Thursday, the Labor Department said the number of people filing for unemployment benefits dropped to its lowest level in three months.

The improving stock market is one reason Americans are worth more money.
Household net worth jumped $3 trillion during the last three months of 2013.
That's because stocks rose 32 percent last year, and home values are much higher than during the recession.

The Federal Trade Commission says ADT Corporation, has settled charges that it deceived consumers by paying people to recommend its home security products in media outlets --- without disclosing their connection to the company.
The commission says ADT paid child-safety, home-security and technology experts more than $300,000 to promote its ADT Pulse security system online, and on TV.

Two advocacy groups, often critical of corporate advertising--are calling on Girl Sscouts of the U.S.A, to end it's partnership with Mattel - the toy company that makes Barbie.
The groups believe Barbie sexualizes young girls and undermines Girl Scouts' mission to build girls of courage, confidence and character.
