Man Pleads Guilty, Sentenced to Prison for Killing Dog with Ax

AURORA, Mo. -- A Lawrence County man charged with animal abuse admits he struck a dog with an ax and killed it.
AURORA, Mo. -- A Lawrence County man charged with animal abuse admits he struck a dog with an ax and killed it.

Mark Alan Rickman, 52, of Aurora is accused of animal abuse and torture or mutilation of an animal while alive.

Rickman previously plead not guilty to his charges in July, but changed his plea to guilty during a court appearance on Friday.

Online court documents show Rickman was sentenced immediately after the plea to four years in prison to run concurrent with other Lawrence County charges.
