Man Mowing Lawn Runs Over "Sparkler Bomb"

GREENE COUNTY, Mo.-- A man ran over a "sparkler bomb" while mowing his lawn over the weekend. A "sparkler bomb" consists of up many sparklers bound together, which when lit, creates a powerful explosion.

A "sparkler bomb" consists of up many sparklers bound together, which when lit, creates a powerful explosion.

According to the Greene County Sheriff's Office, it happened in the 2100 block of W. Arlington.

The victim told deputies the impact of the blast sent the entire mower well over three inches off of the ground.  The mower sustained extensive damage, but the mower deck deflected the blast, so the man was not hurt.

Neighbors from several blocks away reported hearing the explosion. 

Greene County detectives are still investigating.
