SPRINGFIELD, Mo.--Springfield Brewing Company celebrated winning the International Gold Medal from the World Beer Cup held in Denver, Colorado April 18.

This is Springfield Brewing Companies first World Cup Medal and its first entry into this biennial, international competition coinciding with the Craft Brewers Conference.

This edition of the World Beer Cup saw 4,754 beers from 1,403 breweries representing 58 countries.

“We are so thrilled to have won a gold medal for our Mayhem Märzen, an Oktoberfest-style lager. The competition this year was impressive and we are humbled that the silver and bronze medal winners are German breweries,” said Ashton Lewis, Master Brewer at Springfield Brewing Company.

Brewers from five continents earned awards from an international panel of judges at this tenth biennial competition.

Brewers from 22 countries ranging from Australia and Brazil to Taiwan and the United Kingdom were honored.

“Our mission at SBC has always been to brew the best beers we can produce for the Springfield market and this award reminds us that we are doing something right,” Lewis said.
