SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Tablets have replaced printed books as the media of choice for many readers.  But lovers of the ink-on-paper are bargain hunting this week in Springfield.

The annual spring Friends of The Library Book Sale starts today (Tues. 4/29) with thousands of books at yard sale prices.

The Springfield-Greene County Library organizes the sale twice a year and benefits from the proceeds.  Gently used books, DVD's, CD's audio books, games and puzzles are donated every year, then volunteers set up the sales.  This year, four tractor-trailers were filled with donations.

Hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 through Friday, May 2; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, May 3 - Half-price Day; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday,  May 4, is Bag Day. That’s when everything you can jam in a bag.

The sale is at the Remington's Event Center, 1655 W. Republic Road.

Adult, young adult, children’s books and most audiovisual are $1 or less; better books are $2 and up. The Friends can accept only cash or checks.
