Land Bought for New Nixa Fire Station

NIXA, Mo. -- Now city of Nixa is moving to add another fire station to help expand fire protection for that growing population.
NIXA, Mo. -- Nixa, Missouri continues to be one of the fastest growing cities in Missouri with a growth rate of more than 300% in the last 20 years.  Now the city is moving to add another fire station to help expand fire protection for that growing population.

The Nixa Fire Protection District is buying land at Guin Road and Nicholas Road for the city's fifth fire station.  It will be on 2.4 acres of land on the north side of the district.

The sale was finalized April 8.

In a statement released Thursday, Nixa Fire Chief Jon Trent said, "This future Station 5 will also allow us to alleviate some of the increasing demand generated in our Station 1 response zone, which  will only further grow with the addition of another Elementary School and the development of an additional 250 homes plotted on the East side of our Fire District."

The city is in the process of hiring an architect to design the building and may ask voters to approve a bond issue to pay for construction.
