Lady Panthers Need OT To Advance In NCAA's

Drury beats Truman State 74-68 in overtime.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The NCAA Division 2 Midwest Regional tipped off Friday night at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.

The top seed in the region, the Drury Lady Panthers hosting Truman State.

And that's where we find KOLR 10's Megan Rice.

It's the first time the Lady Panthers have hosted a regional at the O'Reilly Center and just the fourth time ever hosting in program history.

And Friday night Drury looking to go 2-0 against the Bulldogs this year.

DU topped Truman 93-86 in the regular season.

Bulldogs Casey Gasensmith gets Truman out to an early 24-19 lead.

But the Lady Panthers Sanayika Shields pump fake and score DU up 29-26.

Late in the first half, DU's Kylie Williamson would leave the game with an ankle injury and be out of the game for a majority of the game.

Late in the second half things got wild.

Sophomore Annie Armstrong gives Drury a 63-62 lead.

Then Truman's Amy Briggs would hit a huge three, Bulldogs take a 65-63 lead with 1:10 to play.

Then it's back to Armstong, go figure, clutch, she had 22 on the night and ties it at 65.

To OT we go.

Drury's Amber Dvorak with the putback, makes it 67-65 DU.

Then Truman's Ally Norton going for the win, has a great look at it, but no good.

Hannah Dressler gets the rebound and the foul

She goes to the free throw line and ices the game with some big free throws.

Drury survives 74-68 in OT.

"Going into the game we thought that we might have had a mismatch.  And just try to ge aggressive against her and go with the game plan and it worked out," said Drury guard Annie Armstrong.

"It was like Annie's buzzer beaters that she gets all the time.  Anybody can step up and make those buzzer beaters.  We just played together and that's the biggest thing," said Drury center Amber Dvorak.

"Every single game we should make it that close.  No, they are exciting.  But when you believe the whole time it works out," said Drury senior Bethanie Funderburk.

And Dan, Drury will go on to play Quincy Sunday at 2:30 right here at the O.
