JOPLIN, Mo.-- Joplin students are excited to see their new high school, rebuilt from the ground up.

The new Joplin High School and Tech Center Complex is going to be large according to builders and students are more than ready for the completion of their new high school.

When construction is done, the interconnected buildings that make up the campus will cover more than 400,000 square feet and will hold nearly 2,500 students.

It's a welcome change for students who have attended classes in a temporary school, set up after the 2011 tornado, with limited outdoor access and no view outside students are happy to be getting a new start.

The school is scheduled to be open in time for the beginning of the fall semester.

The school district estimates the total cost at 110 million dollars funded by insurance, federal and state grants, donations, and a portion of a 62 million dollar school bond voters approved in 2012.
