PULASKI COUNTY, Mo,-- According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department last week marked the finality regarding the preparation stages of the jail renovation project.

Jan. 30 in the County Commissioner’s meeting the solo bid was opened for the project, which was submitted by the Bales Construction Company. Bales estimated they can complete the renovations for $55,125, plus or minus $3,000 relating to electrical work.

Construction is expected to begin in a few weeks. Once the project is finished, at least 28 more inmates will be kept in the Pulaski County Jail. This should allow for complete housing of Pulaski County inmates at the facility, with the exception of four or five in the Dixon Jail.

According to the Sheriff, having a separate facility such as Dixon is very important for jail operations.

“I can’t reiterate enough how monumental this will be in regards to financial savings, a convenience for this agency and to the Courts, along with the ability to double our jail staff. I must remind you; this is only a temporary solution for jail requirements and additional needs and space for the near future,” Pulaski County Sheriff Ronald Long said in a press release.
