Homicide Investigation Underway After FedMed Inmate Dies

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Investigators are looking into the death of an inmate found unresponsive in his cell at the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Investigators are looking into the death of an inmate found unresponsive in his cell at the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield.

According to a spokesperson for the medical center, the death is currently being investigated as a homicide.

On July 19, Cyprian Adoh, 57, was found unresponsive and injured in his assigned housing unit and transported to a local hospital.

Days later, on July 23, Adoh was pronounced dead due to complications of his injuries.

Local authorities, along with the FBI, will continue an investigation into the death.

Adoh, who has been in custody at the medical center since April 2011, was sentenced in the Central District of California to 70 months for conspiracy to commit health care fraud.
