High School Football Poll Aug. 19th

The first high school football poll of the season is out.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The high school football season is set to kick off Friday night.

But school districts across the Ozarks are thinking about moving back the kickoff times because of the hot temperatures forcast.

Nevada's game against Willard will kickoff at 8:00 p.m.

Springfield school's athletic director Mark Fisher says he'll make a decision Wednesday.

Meanwhile the first poll of the season is out and the Nixa Eagles check in at number four in Class 5.

The Eagles finished last year 9-2 and expect to be just as strong this season.

Coach Rich Reheagan's Eagles will open on Sunday afternoon at Jefferson City Helias on ESPNU.

Here's a look at the Class 5 poll, Fort Osage and Webster Groves are tied for first.

Nixa is fourth, Willard is eighth, and Camdenton is tied for ninth.

There are no local teams in Class 6.

In Class 4, Webb City is number one, Bolivar checks in at number seven.

In Class 3, Maryville is number one, Mountain Grove is sixth, Ava is tenth.

In Class 2, Lamar is number one, then comes Strafford and Mountain View Liberty.

In Class 1, Valle Catholic is number one, Osceola is four, Marionville and Skyline are seven, eight.
