SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A Nixa woman charged with trying to hire someone to kill her boyfriend’s ex-wife has pleaded guilty in the case.

Diane Elaine Greer, 48, who was accused of paying an undercover Springfield Police officer $200, plus the keys to a Jeep and a knife, to kill the woman, changed her plea to guilty Wednesday under a plea agreement and is to be sentenced April 4.

She remains in the Greene County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bond.

According to the probable cause statement used as the basis for the charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree murdeer, police were alerted to the plot by a concerned citizen and were able to put an undercover officer in contact with Greer to intercept the plot.

According to court documents, Greer and her boyfriend, who is not charged, wanted to have access to the ex-wife's money.

Police say Greer met with the undercover officer on Nov. 8, 2012, promising to give him the Jeep after the murder was carried out. Police then arranged to stage the murder of the ex-wife, and take pictures depicting the death, as proof for Greer.

Police then called Greer in for questioning on November 20 and confronted her with the photos and with the undercover officer. Court documents say Greer admitted giving the officer the cash, promising the Jeep as payment, and provided the knife with which to kill the woman.
