Great Neighbors - Ash Grove

ASH GROVE, Mo. -- It's another unique great neighbor standing out in the Ozarks. But this time not just one neighbor but a whole group.
ASH GROVE, Mo. -- It's another unique great neighbor standing out in the Ozarks.  But this time not just one neighbor but a whole group.

Neighbors say someone always has your back and their are eyes everywhere. KOLR10's Brett Martin went to their homes to see why they stand out amongst the rest.

Jane Gordon moved to Ash Grove from Pennsylvania nine months ago and says she was welcomed with open arms.

"When I first moved here, I would walk outside and they would say hello or wave or something and then we would start hanging out together at nighttime."

She lives in a small apartment community just off Highway 160 but says its more like one big family than just friends.

"I've never had neighbors like this, never!"

And her neighbors agree.
Within minutes of us being there, they were outside ready to brag about the bond they share.
"At Christmas time, we said we need lights Justin. He was up here to help put lights up, lights for them, he helps out everybody," says Donna Dotson.
"We'll sit out here until two or three or something like that, we all love each other," adds Bernice Banassi.
Dotson says. "My oldest grandson loves to help Jane do things."

Bernice Banassi moved in just a year ago and says nowadays, having an extra pair of eyes helps.
"I can tell by the sound of cars who is coming in and all of us."

Jane says young and old, they always have a helping hand.
"To me its important for people to do something like that for somebody else, they pitch in and help."

Donna Dotson and her husband say there is no place like Ash Grove, particurlaly, their seven unit apartment complex just outside of town.  "They say you never can go back home, thats a lie."

And Jane agrees. "The people are so friendly, I just love it here."
