COLUMBIA, Mo-- Crane, El Dorado Springs and Walnut Grove win at state.
COLUMBIA, Mo--Saturday a handful of Ozark Area High School basketball teams competed for a state title in Columbia. And that's where we find our Dan Lucy, Dan.

Thanks Megan. The numbers game on championship Saturday here at Mizzou Arena is not complicated. Five Ozark area teams fighting for one of three girls state championships.

The day tipped off with 27-4 Walnut Grove against 29 game winner North Andrew. The Lady Tigers looking for a second straight state championship.

Walnut Grove opening the game on a 7-nothing run, Lexi Harman scores on this fast break.

The Lady Tiger defense was stifling, this steal leads to a Heather Harman hoop it's 14-3.

Later Lexi Harman picks the pocket and feeds her cousin Heather Harman for the hoop it's 22-9 Walnut Grove. The Lady Tigers ended up with 22 steals in the championship game.

The Harman cousin's kept it up in the second half, Heather hits this two of her 30 on the day. Lexi added 18 and Walnut Grove wins back to back Class 1 titles 84-49.

"We've had in four years, a lot of success that teams haven't had. My freshman year going to a quarterfinal. My sophomore year going to state and losing by one. And last year winning by one and this year winning. That's four years and a lot of people don't get to do that and that's huge," said Walnut Grove senior Heather Harman.

In Class Three both Ash Grove and El Dorado Springs were looking for their first ever state championship, in their first ever Final Four.

El Dorado Springs out to a quick start, this Rachel Bush three makes it a 12-4 Bulldog lead.

Alexa Schaaf's three gave Eldo a 22-10 lead after one.

The Bulldogs led by 10 at the half, but Ash Grove storms back in the second half, Morgan Allred's basket here gives the Pirates a 45-44 lead.

Then Ash Grove's Madilyn Johnson's three gives the Pirates a 2 point lead.

But, El Dorado Springs would claw back, on the break, to Alexa Schaaf and the foul, the three point play makes it 59-54, she finished with 20.

And the Bulldogs win their first ever girls state championship 66-56.

"I was a little scared because I was on the bench. Lots of things were going through my mind. But I knew we could come back if we fought hard," said El Dorado Springs senior Alexa Schaaf.

The 30-1 Crane Lady Pirates were looking for their second straight Class 2 title against Skyline.

But the Lady Tigers took it to the champs, this Krista Gideon 3 gives Skyline a 14-11 lead after one.

Crane puts together an 11-nothing run to take the lead, off the turnover, Justine Mahan gets the layup it's 21-14 Lady Pirates.

Then Crane's Allie Hagler hits the 10 footer, the Lady Pirates led 34-29 a the half.

The Lady Pirates would take control in the third quarter, they get the steal and Riley Israel cashes it in, it's 42-31 Crane.

Crane's super sophomore Emma Lander takes over in the fourth quarter, two of her 22.

And Crane wins its second straight Class 2 title 67-52. The Lady Pirates are 60-4 over the last 2 seasons

"We have created this new program new standard of play. I think that we enjoy trying to raise that bar higher each year and each game too," said Crane sophomore Emma Lander.

So congratulations to Walnut Grove, El Dorado Springs and Crane for their state titles. But all teams should be proud, proving Southwest Missouri is indeed a girls hoops hotbed.
